Hi to all! I´m taking a moment now to write because I don´t know if I´ll have time this upcoming week. A team from Chicago is coming to work with kids- I think it´s going to be like a VBS. (I´m not really sure because I try to only speak in Spanish, so I don´t always know what´s going on!). They are supposed to be here in a half hour or so. Seven women are going to sleep here, at the Ruanos house, and the other half of the team is going to sleep at a house a few minutes away. But the whole team is going to be having their meals here so I know it´s going to be crazy! We did a lot of preparation today, cleaning and setting up extra beds. The other house has not been occupied for a year because the family that used to live there(the Ruano`s relatives) got a new house, so Chochy, Jose, Dennis and I went to clean it up and get it ready. It was really dusty. I had fun cleaning it because I got to learn Spanish words like ``barrer``- to sweep and ``llaves``-keys. We wanted to get on top of the roof but we didn´t know where the key was. Then Dennis found a whole bunch of them, oh, only about fifteen or so and gave them all to me. I was like, ``Whoa! Hay muchas!`` I got the honor of figuring out which key fit the lock- and of course, it was the last key I tried!
This week, starting Wednesday, I will be going with the Ruanos and the team to work with the kids at the church, or wherever we are going to be going. I´m sorry I don´t have all the details, but seriously I´ve just been taking this trip moment by moment. So I´m writing all I know!
It´s not that big of a deal, but just so you BRBCers know, I will not be going to the jungle or anything on this trip- I heard the bulletin said something about that and I´m not sure where that came from but yeah, jungles are not in the plan. Sorry to let you down! Haha a jungle trip sounds so missionary-adventure-like.
It is so cool to see why God lead me to Guatemala this summer. I´ve really been enjoying learning the language and building relationships with people here. I´m excited to see how this trip opens up more opportunities in the future- I sure hope that this is one of many trips to Guatemala. I am so pumped about learning Spanish- my progress is slow but there is progress none-the-less. I love it! Immersion is the way to go! Kudos to the Ruanos for being so patient and for making me part of the family.
I would really appreciate prayers for this week- that we will accomplish much with the team and that everyone will get along. Also- please pray for me as I continue my study of Spanish- I add new words and phrases to my little notebook everyday!
